What is a BioBlitz?
It's a 24-hour celebration of biodiversity where scientists work together to see how many species of plants and animals they can find in one area. Learn more about MPM's BioBlitz.
Activities for All Ages
Families are encouraged to join staff and surveyors for a day of outdoor activities, granting them a close view of all the biodiversity we uncover together. Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Moss Walk (UW Green Bay, Cofrin Center for Biodiversity)
- Departs at 10 a.m.
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Nature Journaling Workshop (Kathy DeVries Designs, Sign up in advance here)
- Begins 11 a.m.
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Butterfly Walk (Dane County Butterfly Monitoring Program)
- Departs at 12:30 p.m.
- Duration: 45-60 minutes
- Mycology Walk (Mycological Society of Wisconsin)
- Departs at 1:45 p.m.
- Duration: 30-45 minutes
- Self-guided tours of the famous Leopold Shack
- 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Base camp arts and crafts and informational tables
- 10 a.m. - 3p.m.

Founded in 1982 by the five children of Aldo and Estella Leopold, the Aldo Leopold Foundation’s mission is to foster a land ethic through the legacy of Aldo Leopold.
